ABOUT ME
Arnold Dahl-Wooley (he/him)
Public Speaker
Arnold J. Dahl-Wooley is a trailblazer and advocate for Two Spirit and LGBTQ persons, deeply rooted in Native American culture and history. In 2013, Arnold and his husband made history as the first same-sex couple whose marriage was officially sanctioned by the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, marking a pivotal moment in the fight for equality. With over 20 years of experience as a recognized national public speaker, Arnold has become a passionate voice for visibility, understanding, and inclusion within Indigenous communities and beyond.
Arnold's presentations shine a light on the vital contributions and challenges of Two Spirit and LGBTQ persons within Native American culture. His work explores the sacred roles of Two Spirit individuals before colonization, the devastating impacts of colonialism on Indigenous identities, and the journey to reclaim and celebrate Two Spirit roles in contemporary society.
A significant part of Arnold's advocacy focuses on outreach for suicide prevention, anti-bullying, and cultural inclusion addressing critical issues that disproportionately affect Two Spirit and LGBTQ youth. He also shares deeply personal stories about the realities of bigotry and the resilience needed to overcome it, offering audiences a heartfelt perspective on the ongoing fight for dignity and respect.
Arnold's talks are not just educational but also a celebration of identity and community. As part of his outreach, he provides buttons and stickers as gifts, creating small yet meaningful tokens of solidarity and connection for his audiences.
